With some preparation it is possible to find a job in Japan. Many foreigners work as English conversation teachers. Most jobs require a univeristy degree, although it can be in any field.
The Monday edition of the Japan Times carries the most job advertisements. Internet job sites are also a good source of information.

The working holiday program makes it possible for people to work in Japan who may not have a univeristy degree. Some foreigners also work in bars, restaurants and hotels. Working on a tourist visa is illegal and authorities are clamping down on anyone who breaks this law.
