Koh Chang is Thailand’s second largest island after Phuket. The whole island is a national park, which much of the inland areas still covered in forest. It is very accessible from Bangkok by bus. By air the nearby airport in Trat, has three daily flights from Bangkok.
Getting there and away
Ferries depart from the port of Laem Ngop. To get to Laem Ngop buses leave from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Eka moai) and the Northern Bus Terminal (Mor Chit). The bus takes 4-6 hours and the roads are well made. The fare should cost around 200-250 baht.
Koh Chang is also on the way to Cambodia. There is a daily mini-bus that travels directly to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Visas are available at the border, but it can be a good idea to get the appropriate visas while in Bangkok. There is also another border crossing at Hat Lek at the southern most point of Thailand. Ferries are also available to Sihanoukville via Koh Kong in Cambodia.
Ferries depart Laem Ngop every hour from 6 am to 6 pm. Car ferries are also available for people driving.
Getting around
A shared taxi service operates around the island and to and from the ferry ports to all of the main beaches. Motorcycles and cars are also available for hire. Take care if you are inexperienced as the roads around the island are very windy. Fatalities are common. Fines are also charged for failing to wear a helmet.

Banks and ATMs can be found all of the main tourist areas of the island.
Internet
Internet cafes can be found all over the island and charge approximately 2 baht per minute or 100 baht per hour.
Health
The Koh Chang International clinic (http://www.kohchanginterclinic.com) can be found on White Sands Beach. They are open 24 hours.
Diving centers
Diving is becoming popular and there are numerous diving centers available in Koh Chang.
