Bratislava, Slovakia is a great stop-off point between Prague and Budapest. It is not nearly as beautiful as it's surrounding capital cities, however because of this, it is far less touristy and alot of people prefer it. Is is very cheap, relaxing and friendly - dont expect to shop, but 30cents for a great beer makes it all the more friendlier!
Bratislava and Vienna are the two closest capitals in the world, with 60km separating them, you can pop across for tea.
